Accessible tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is another untapped potential!

When we invite citizens to visit certain parts of our country, do we not mean people with disabilities?

Why the Tourist information offices and community  providers of tourist accommodation and atractions don’t see people with disabilities as consumers and users of their services?

In short, if I want to spend my summer or winter in my country Bosnia and Herzegovina as a person with a disability, regardless of which entity I want to explor. My choice is more than narrow, you have the option again, five-star hotels or  different physical therapy centers.

It should be noted that some high-category hotels in BiH do not have adapted accommodation for people with disabilities, so we have only  few that are adapted to the needs of people with disabilities (wheelchair users).They are mainly located in larger cities.

Unfortunately, there are no private accommodation and apartments adapted for people with disabilities, you may find several hundred results on booking.com if you choose filters adapted for people with disabilities. However, if you contact the owners directly you will receive information that it is not adapted.

So if you want to visit the beauties of our country, you are again doomed to a high-category hotel or different physical therapy centers. Which by the way in their pools do not have aids that make it easier for you to enter and exit the pools.

If you adapt the accommodation unit to people with disabilities, it  doesn’t mean that the same accommodation unit can’t be used by 

 all other guests, because what is adapted for people with disabilities is adapted for other guests. By taking in account  of the “golden years” guests you also open the door to a new market.

I know if you inquire at orthopedic stores, customization  and adaptation tools will be too expensive, but  a lot of things can be made by craftsmen in your area. Below in the video you will find some of the examples.
